Coleman said, “When abusive parents homeschool, there’s no requirements for kids to have any contact with anyone. We know cases where children have been locked away for years.”
Democratic State Senator Matt McCoy will introduce legislation that will require parents to check in with medical professionals or public school employees. His third hearing is scheduled for next week with the Iowa Department of Human Services.
